 5,000+ beers
 250+ bottles of wine
 30 scars (rough count)
 0 broken bones
 0 stiches
 3 car wrecks

 50+ train rides
 0 major illnesses
360+ days of world of warcraft
 3 jobs in coffee shops

these are some of my ornaments, and if it could possibly be true that we aren't only or are more than what we've done... im compelled to hope who exactly i am hasn't been given a voice at all yet. otherwise i think at least i could claim that my personal waste of a decade was accomplished with a notable degree of artistic merit. i feel tidally. i hope always. i want rest not only for myself but for everyone i know. i can't honestly think of someone i hate. i'm unsure what to actually do with any of this. hi, my name is bobby.

  1. Wow! I wish I had your gift for creative writing. I am reminded of the lyrics from RENT's "Seasons of Love." How do we measure a life, and how would I measure my life? The form that you have chosen for this first blog post is memorable, and more importantly, the content concisely paints a picture of your evolving identity. Was the night in jail connected to the cats or the cowboy boots?

Jessica...who is resigned to a perpetual state of restlessness until I find my tattered heart that I left somewhere out in the world in a previous life.

P.S. Don't wait too long to apply for a new passport, but we all must expire at some point.
P.P.S. Man, it's not the coffee though I worry about me, too. I really LOVE working with students because they teach me so much. Besides, life is too short to spend one day doing anything that I hate or resist (or that is not practical/beneficial in some way to me or to someone else).

  2. responding to your post post script- there is a breakfast place on summer called bryant's. filled every morning with a nice memphis sampler of blue collars and beat up carhart everything else. they had a shirt on the wall there that read "life is too short to eat healthy". as easy and cathartic as being cynical is... i like your platitude better.

also it may not be considered restless to wake up at 2 if one is going to bed at 6. although if we keep am/pm out of it i also generally go to sleep at 6 and wake up at 2:)

as far as hearts, tattered is lovely insofar as it involves a pulse. at least thats what i tell myself all the time. then again if yours is actually missing... this morning becomes even more surreal.
